Application

A checkpoint for USB and other media

MetaDefender Kiosk is designed to inspect removable media before it is connected to a protected environment. It can combine multi-engine scanning with policies for files and users.

A Kiosk is useful where media is handled by employees, visitors, service providers or operators and inspection at a normal workstation would not be sufficient.

Key capabilities

Media scanning

Files from USB and other supported media can be checked before they are used further.

Layered analysis

Depending on licensing and configuration, a Kiosk can use multiscanning, file-type checks and Deep CDR.

Policies and visitors

The process can include rules for devices, users, exceptions and event recording.

Supported media types and functions depend on the selected hardware variant, software and configuration.

Media inspection step by step

An example for an organisation where removable media is used at the entrance to a protected zone.

  1. Connect the media

A user connects the device to the dedicated inspection station.

  2. Inspect the files

The Kiosk checks the content using the defined mechanisms and policies.

  3. Assess the result

The operator receives information about files that are released, held or require review.

  4. Release the data

Only content that meets the rules can move to the next system or user.

Where Kiosk helps

Industrial zones

Inspection reduces the risk of bringing malicious files into production and OT systems.

Service and maintenance

Media used by contractors can pass through one consistent inspection process.

Regulated organisations

A recorded intake process supports enforcement of agreed security rules.

Choosing the station and policy

Before deployment, we identify the media used in the organisation, which files may be released and who decides when a result requires review.

The design should also cover the device location, offline operation, report retention, updates and the handling of media held for investigation.

RAMS DATA

Secure the media used by your organisation

We can plan the inspection point, policies and handling process for media brought by employees, visitors and service providers.

  • Inventory media types and scenarios.
  • Define data-release rules.
  • Prepare an exception procedure.
